Dearest Garden Friends... Today I was almost the day long in the gardens...
Clearing several extremely bush-y olive trees... all with just a few edible olives on them: they need some care and attention to bring them back from some disease and overgrowth.
Below is the bushy-ness before my work:
I'm throwing all the trimmings down below the trees, to give the earth and to protect the soil from nutriment loss.... The trees all needed a lot of pruning, as they've grown tangled in themselves, each other, and the other surrounding trees, like the fig, orange, grape vines, kiwi.
It was a fantastic day: still very warm, but only a few mosquitoes drinking from my veins. Tolerable, at last! This kept me out for hours! I've so much energy pent up from wanting to be out, but not liking being eaten alive!
I found three wee pumpkins that were hidden under the trees.... yey. And gathered at least a kilo of olives throughout the day - filling my pockets between sawing and snipping.
Again, I am experiencing a great joy at the garden needing less and less major work, and it really coming together in form, beauty and function.
Such a blessing to have my cats with me all day too: it's a profound pleasure to see the three young ones learning directly in nature - and so sweet how they come and sit close by me as I work, as if taking care of me - maybe watching out fir predators? 😋😉
It was brilliant to finally clear the view through the top gate: the olive in front of it was a solid wall of twiggery, and the inctedible view was hidden. I worked right until it was dark, and it was lovely, closing the gate with the open sky now behind it.
Days like these are so powerfully realigning - in the multidimensional!
All day long I had this potent sense of this work being attuned, of sacred geometry and of being part of this symbiosis in nature.
I am now achey and heavy with tiredness, but very peaceful and knowing that a shower and bed will feel sooooo amazing. 😍😍😍😍🙏
I also am fixing a nice wee tile path over the edible lawn on one level 🌞🍃
The last images here are taken after the sun went down... it actually gives a much better view of the space, so I must pop down at this time again to take photos with my proper camera sometime!
Okay, I am pooped, off to shower and bed!
Buonanotte tutti xx
Clare.
