El partido ante Senegal no tuvo imprevistos, la selección africana quería repetir la proeza hecha hace 20 años donde pasaron a cuartos de final, pero esta vez los leones ingleses cortaron su vuelo, algo que hicieron de forma temprana y bastante contundente. Senegal no tuvo oportunidad, a pesar de haber disparado en múltiples ocasiones al arco que custodiaba Pickford, estuvieron muy lejos de hacer un daño real. Al final de cuentas fue una victoria sencilla para la selección de los tres leones.
