In my previous article, I mentioned a dinner gathering with friends where we discussed life, work, and family. Work is always a great icebreaker topic, primarily for exchanging information. When it comes to cheerful conversations, we definitely need to talk about life. I realized that investments make for a great subject. Although money can't buy everything, it's undeniably crucial in our lives. We work to earn money and live the way we want. We also discussed how the economy has been tough this year, and finding good investment opportunities has been challenging. One of my friends invested heavily in emerging market-focused funds and suffered losses of over 60% this year. He's contemplating whether to cut his losses.
My perspective is that he mentioned his fund is a well-established one with a history of over 50 years, making the possibility of it going bankrupt quite low. If I were in his shoes and not in dire need of the money, I would advise him to hold onto the fund. Economic conditions are cyclical, and there's still a chance for it to rebound.
By the way, I also introduced blockchain games to my friends. Most of them weren't interested due to the high risks involved. They believe games aren't a reliable way to make significant money, and I admit they have a point. But without risks, there are no rewards. Additionally, the fun factor of a game is a crucial indicator for me when considering the future potential of blockchain games. Even though I haven't been involved in blockchain investments for long and haven't had much time to learn the technical aspects, I can still tell whether a game is enjoyable. Many blockchain games aren't fun or are challenging to play, but I believe in the potential of blockchain technology and its applications. So, I don't regret the money and time I've invested in blockchain games. I'm hopeful that in the future, I'll receive a reasonable return on my investment.
