Hello everyone,
I was writing this post as a follow up to my last post about Tai Chi with my dad. I wanted to share my dad's journey that hes had in the last couple of years. A couple years ago my dad had multiple strokes in a row. In between, hes had some episodes and hes a little blind on one side and that side doesn't work too well anymore. I gotta tell you my dad was a workhorse of a guy. He's not the type of person to want to sit around and let stuff slide around him. He had been a smoker most of his life most of his life and drank a lot too. When his strokes happened, he stopped doing everything. There was no more cigarettes, there was no more smoking, there was no more drinking, just getting back to healing his body. He went through many doctor's appointments and physical therapy. I just have to take this moment to thank my mom for being such a wonderful person and such a great wife. She has been there through all of it. The things that helped him get better was family, lots of physical therapy, some pharmaceuticals, some cannabis, including edibles and topicals, and Tai Chi. When I got to do som Tai Chi with him it was great. He knew all the movements and though he hadn't done it for a couple weeks he was smooth and afterwards we felt great. Today my dad stull struggles but he does his exercises everyday. Everyday hes getting better than he was the day before, and while he still goes up-and-down with his health, he never gives up. That's something I've learned from my dad; never just give up, and do the things that must be done. This is theway!
