A Sea of Dahlias on a (sorta)Sunny Summer Day
Hello everyone and welcome to my first post in about a year now..... O.O
Last year I was imaging flowers in late spring and the Columbines were in full bloom and the Dahlias were just getting started.
This year I'm here at high summer and the Columbines are done except for this one little purple one here I found near the wishing well.
The gardner tells me the Columbines didn't put on as good a show as last year.
Right now the Dahlias are in full bloom as opposed to last year when I imaged them.
I would say I give to you the humble Dahlia but there is nothing humble about them this year.
The Gardens here have over a hundred Dahlia plants of many different types.
I'm useing the Sigma 150mm- 600mm lens today to isolate flowers across the gardens giving me a much nicer blur aka Bokeh in the background.
I took over a 100 images today and I had trouble deciding what to post
This yellow one (above) is about the "humblest" Dahlia I could find today and it's not doing a very good job at it....
It just gets flashier from here....
This one was one of my favorites, the color reaches out and grabs the eye
This is a hot little number I was trying to get in full sun because that red pops like you wouldn't believe but the cloud cover rolled in just after I got here

Time to go back to PG rated flowers for a bit.
Well PG-13 anyway....
I followed this butterfly around till my arms shook trying to get this shot .
I swear this lens gained about 15 lbs. over the last couple hours.
