In the end, it will be difficult to attribute any lives saved to the lockdown that would have otherwise been lost to COVID. The long term impact of the lockdown (good and bad) will have to be compared to a non-lockdown control (the only potential control here is Sweden). Eventually, just about everyone will be exposed. Snapshots cannot tell the story. Interesting that the lockdown has saved lives from causes other than COVID (like driving, work accidents, etc.). The number of lives saved will have to be compared with those extra lives lost in the future to poverty, suicide, unchecked cancer, etc. that can result from destroying the economy. The government-is-my-savior crowd rarely considers downstream consequences of policies. Continued lockdown is a net negative IMHO.
