I'm sure we've all thought about it at some point and have probably already started learning another language. There are people who, in my opinion, are lucky in life and learn languages incredibly easily and then there's me - I speak English fluently, but it's been a tough road.
I'm quite happy with my pronunciation, you can hear that I'm German, but I don't have the typical German-English dialect. On the contrary, I have 4 dialects and I mix them all up. My English lessons started in the 5th grade, the teacher I had until the 9th grade insisted on "British English". My teacher from Year 9 to Year 11 mainly learnt his English in Australia after leaving school. During my senior years I had a teacher who spoke American English. Each of the teachers influenced my English - especially the pronunciation. Sometimes I pronounce something British and then in the next sentence I pronounce another word very American. My girlfriend often laughs at this because she then says: "It*s suppose to be xyz" - and I then say: "That's probably British English or Australian." As my girlfriend and I like to tease each other in a healthy way, this is usually checked and I've almost always used some kind of accent. With native speakers, I've usually found that they find it very funny when you change your accent like that, but that it happens quite often - so I'm not the only one.
My girlfriend has more or less a talent for languages, she grew up bilingual. German and Greek, from grammar school onwards she had a bilingual Abitur in Spanish and she just learned English on the side...
I've been trying to learn Turkish for more than 5 years - sometimes more, sometimes less ambitiously. With Duolingo Premium I've at least managed a 200-day streak, but the stupid thing is that you can cheat quite easily by simply selecting the pronunciation training, speaking 10 words and then you've learnt a day. So to summarize, it didn't work out so well.
Now Black Week is starting here in Germany - I'm still of the opinion that you don't really get a good deal. A stranger once made fun of me in Saturn (a store mainly for Electonic things) because I bought the Nintendo Switch for €329 3 days before Black Friday, on Black Friday it cost €339 and was sold out for weeks afterwards...
I've now made a list of the things I want and saved the prices, and I'll see how they behave in terms of price from tomorrow.
But now I've been suggested an offer on Instagram: Babbel Lifetime with a 70% discount. As I'm not very consistent with language learning as described above, this is definitely a good consideration compared to paying monthly or annually. No sooner said than done - clicked on it - looked at the price: €199. For 14 languages and a lifetime? I think that's a very good price.
So I quickly sat down at my computer, went to the Babbel website and lo and behold: €299. Ehm... okay.
Entered "Babbel Black Week" into Google and it's actually cheaper here with the voucher but still €239, €40 more than on the smartphone. Okay, Instagram said 70% off, so I typed "Babbel Black Week 70%" into Google, but I couldn't find anything under €239.
I ended up buying it on my smartphone. Interestingly, Lifetime at Babbel means 100 years - and this seems to renew even after 100 years, at least you can object to this automatic renewal.
Now I can start learning Turkish, I don't have to feel guilty if I'm too tired after work. Let's see how many Turkish accents I can master one day.

Jeder von uns hat bestimmt schonmal darüber nachgedacht und vermutlich auch schon angefangen eine andere Sprache zu lernen. Es gibt Leute die, meiner Meinung nach Glück im Leben haben und wahnsinnig leicht Sprachen lernen und dann gibt es mich - ich spreche fließend Englisch, aber der Weg dahin war hart.
Mit meiner Aussprache bin ich recht zu frieden, man hört das ich Deutscher bin, aber ich habe nicht den typisch deutsch-englischen Dialekt. Im Gegenteil ich hab 4 Dialekte die ich alle durcheinander schmeiße. Mein Englischunterricht began in der 5. Klasse, mein Lehrer den ich bis zur 9. Klasse hatte, bestand auf “British English”. Mein Lehrer ab der 9. Klasse bis zur 11. hatte sein Englisch hauptsächlich nach dem Abitur in Australien gelernt. In der Oberstufe hatte ich einen der amerikan English gesprochen hat. Jeder von den Lehrern, hat dabei mein Englisch geprägt - vorallem die Aussprache. Mal spreche ich etwas britisch aus und dann im nächsten Satz ein anderes Wort sehr amerikanisch. Meine Freundin lacht sich darüber häufig schlapp, weil Sie dann sagt es heißt : “xyz” - und ich sag dann: “Das ist vermutlich gerade British English oder australisch. Da meine Freundin und ich uns gerne auf gesunde Art und Weise ärgern, wird dies dann auch meist überprüft und fast immer hab ich irgendeinen Akzent verwendet. Mit Muttersprachlern habe ich meist die Erfahrung gemacht, dass die es sehr witzig finden, wenn man den Akzent so wechselt, aber das dies durchaus öfter vorkommt - bin also nicht der Einzige.
Meine Freundin hat mehr oder weniger ein Talent für Sprachen, sie ist zweisprachig aufgewachsen. Deutsch und Griechisch, ab dem Gymnasium hatte sie noch bilinguales Abitur auf Spanisch und Englisch lernt man halt einfach mal so nebenbei…

Mit Duolingo Premium hab ich es zumindest auf eine 200 Tage Streak geschafft, das blöde ist nur, dass man da recht gut mogeln kann in dem man einfach das Aussprachetraining auswählt, 10 Vokabeln einspricht und Ta Da man hat einen Tag gelernt. Man kann also zusammenfassend sagen, hat nicht so toll funktioniert.
Jetzt beginnt hier in Deutschland die Black Week - bin bis heute der Meinung, dass man da nicht wirklich gut bei wegkommt. Mich hat mal im Saturn ein fremder dumm angemacht weil ich die Nintendo Switch 3 Tage vor Black Friday für 329€ gekauft habe, am Black Friday hat sie 339€ gekostet und war danach Wochen lang ausverkauft…
Ich hab mir jetzt von den Dingen die ich haben will eine Liste mit Preisen erstellt, und schaue mir mal an wie sich diese ab morgen preislich verhalten.

Jetzt kann ich anfangen türkisch zu lernen, muss kein schlechtes Gewissen haben, wenn ich nach der Arbeit zu müde bin. Mal schauen wie viele türkisch Akzente ich irgendwann beherrsche.
