Tree Tuesday- The evolution of life in the back paddock. Then and ...

Hi there everyone around the world reveling in the majesty of one of Mother Earth's most glorious gifts- and that is the luscious, ancient, colourful, short, tall, thick, thin living breathing beings that we call trees- Beings that are so critical to the survival of humanity and beings that are so disrespected by far too many people around the world.

I would like to share with you the evolution of the back paddocks- the rural countryside that I grew up in so you will see not just the massive improvement to the aesthetic value of this back paddock, but also the significant improvement to the value of thousands of lives in this space- and I'm talking about the animals, the insects, the birds and all of the other living beings that can now safely call this place home.

It's a story of trees, but you don't see too many- hardly any in fact.

So the first photo Mum took was back in the 1970's- which is really not that far back in the whole scheme of things...

That's my dearly departed dad and oldest brother- when he was about 5, so about 1970-ish and look to all the paddocks beyond them and what do you see?

Yep that's right, NO trees. The angle to the left of our backyard.

And again a few years after that with my Grandpa mowing the lawn back in the 1970's to the left again

And in this photo, the only trees you see are in the distance- those that line the curve of the river (you can just see the sandy riverbed in the top right) the Angle centre right of our backyard.

And then just a year or so ago.

And look at it now- brimming with life of all kinds, constantly dying and being born again in there now.

These last 2 are taken from standing to the very far left of the swamp and my backyard is in the distance on the far right of the photo.

And you can see that there were taken in different seasons too, but the same paddock on the same angle

Photo below taken last year in the latest big flood.

But the river to the right, still breaks it's banks and the paddocks still flood and although many of the animals that can now call it home amongst all of those trees down there will be able to seek shelter out of the floodwaters, I'm sure many of them can't, which saddens me to no end.

But that's nature and life still goes on- for some.....
