Hi there Basil, I am so happy that you have had a chance to think about this and draw up a draft for everyone to add into and collaborate on.
I'm not sure how much help I can be within the actual execution of the payment system as I'm still trying to understand how it all works myself after being on here for nearly a month now.....however I am so keen to help out in other ways.
And I agree with you- which is why I searched for charities and was VERY shocked and disappointed when I came up with nothing, because I too am inspired by "................One of the things that first inspired me about the blockchain was seeing people blogging from impoverished communities and being rewarded with upvotes that sometimes equated to more than a whole months earnings for them.........."- especially on the #IAmaliveChallenge community which is the first one that I joined.
You've also got no idea just how much I can relate to this statement of yours............"Basically people dont usually hang around too long. Its too complicated for the average layperson and its usefulness-to-effort ratio is still fairly poor so even those who put in lots of effort to overcome the significant hurdles here, (like building a following, or even understanding what the hell is going on!?) might still find themselves drifting away because they dont know how to keep it relevant to their life. ....................." and over the past few days, yes I've seen some great content still, but am not quite as inspired by the same old stuff every day, which is another reason that I am looking for something far more significant to do with my life on the Hive and that's where charities work for me.
I'm not directly associated with any, I don't run any, I was involved in one called SKA TV from 2005-2010 as a volunteer, but due to lack of funding and other support, it no longer exists.
However, since 2010 I have conducted monumental amounts of research into different charities for my TV projects which I have been trying to get on air since then....... and in conducting this research and with no time to lose in life, I also had the opportunity to film a few of them in Australia, Thailand, Singapore and have edited footage for a short doco for one in Tanzania and helped out on a project getting a drone shipped to Mozambique for another and then that footage from the drone was featured in a segment of "Australian 60 Minutes" a few years ago. These are all legit non-profits that I came across in my travels and am still in contact with all of them today.............and these a just a handful of the non-profits that I am in indirect contact with over the world.
So I would love to spend my time on the Hive and leave a much more positive and progressive footprint both on Hive and in my own life by being involved in such an initiative like this, so I would like to offer my services to be apart of these tasks.."...............a team of people who work for HIVE-CHARITY whose job it is to actively curate and ensure that the delegated HIVE is being used to support genuine projects, and where possible to minimise corruption and scams................." and I already have quite a few ideas popping into my head now on how to involved other communities and engage users, both internal and external......@melinda010100,
@queenmountain,
@animal-shelter, @ nathanmars, mountainjewel, @ nattybongo,
@robwillmann,
@adiwathrive,
@naturalmedicine,
@giantbear,
@earthtribe,
@pixiepost, @ jaynie, @powerhousecreatives ,
@iamraincrystal
@femcy-willy which would only increase the awareness of and new members to grow the Hive....and apparently that what everyone else wants too......
I like this too, but again, am certainly NO expert as like I said, still trying to work out the nuances of the Hive payment system and @Sidwrites has kindly offered to write a tutorial for noobies like myself with examples.....but I think that your very simple..................."Simple Transaction. In an IDEAL world, users would not have to deal with the complication of buying HIVE or delegating it but could simply input FIAT money in to the application which would then automatically buy HIVE at the current market price and automatically delegate it to the HIVE-CHARITY account. ........."would/could/should work, but then I did read @grampo 's response, which admittedly, although I don't quite 100% understand, sound like a couple of valid points to me.....but surely, with all of the genius creators within Hive, this can be easily worked out.....
And yes, definitely...."........ Manage Supported Projects.......With the focus being on those smaller charities that run on the smell of an oily rag......
And yes, definitely .......Charity Blogs.' Yes absolutely they must. And bearing in mind, it terms of legitimacy, there seems to be people on the Hive from every single country in the world, so we could make use of them to also verify charities within their physical locations- they hear the rumours, read the papers, know their council elders, can visit (if they're close) to conduct an audit (under the guise of a simple catch up/marketing promo....) Etc....
And with this statement that you have made....I used to tell everyone I knew about the wonders of blockchain social media but it was hard to convince them to get involved and almost none of those who did start an account have stayed. Ive long since stopped trying to convince people, but I can already feel that if there was a simple, presentable way to make a small investment and give to a charitable cause, my whole method of pitching the blockchain would focus on it and I dare say my success rate would improve dramatically........" I definitely agree.
I want to tell everyone about Hive because I think it has the potential to do so much for so many communities, people and other entities around the world, but am not willing to do that it until it can be far more easily explained and it seems that some of the people that I have been speaking to over the past few weeks- even the long term members, don't even fully understand it 100% yet, which is actually a bit....ummm suprising....worriesome.....
Anyway, I'm IN and I hope that a few others that I have tagged here will see the long term benefits and positive impliactions for not only Hive, but also their own communities, passions, initiatives and the charities too.
Please keep me in the loop and anything I can do to help at any time.
Cheers Basil!
