For me the future of steemit is nothing but good. they have any idea that is supported by a cryptocurrency that pays users in cryptocurrencies which is an investment in the long term compared to fiat currencies. Compared to youtube there is a means of making money by simply being a view or commenting, there is no longer a need to be "youtube famous" in order to make money. They have designed a plateform that is very similar to youtube called dtube which most of you already know. Dtube also has the same benefits as steemit, and it can potentially surpass youtube in the long run because it doesn't have any restrictions on what you can say or do in what you post.
