Tangled in the web of lust

Chapter 45~46

★★★★

Who are these people?

Melanie stood frozen and reeling from shock as the hose continues to drown her, wiping every smug of blood from her flawless skin, her ripped skirt barely staying put and the atmosphere changed instantly, everything becoming lighter.

She cowered visibly as a huge towel is draped over her shoulders, covering her up completely and other social workers grabbed the attacker who's looks lifeless at this point.

Are these people really social security's workers?

Don't they have like a badge or something?

And why would they use a knife to rescue her instead of a licensed gun?

It doesn't make sense. And they aren't saying a word to her.

Stepping out of the tarp, Melanie strolled towards the van where the attacker is being shoved, her whole body shivering as water drips from her hair.

Who sent him?

And who's this 'She' he was talking about?

"Ms Melanie!" Lucy's voice flittered through in front of the van and Melanie hurriedly stepped out, her eyes widened slightly and the tears she didn't know she was holding up slides free down her cheeks.

Something terrible just happened to her.

She almost got ràped and kîlled.

Whoever sent these social securities must be a godsent to her life. Maybe a fallen angel, or her hero.

Whoever it is, she just know that she's owes that person big time.

"Lucy..." Melanie's lips quivered, it's night out already, only the bright light emitting from the huge van luminates the thick woods, it's so scary out here.

"Oh my goodness!." Lucy wailed, her cheeks flushed red and looking completely disorganized, she's shaking slightly, like she's just coming down from an high, what kind?. I have no idea.

Melanie crashed into Lucy's arms, her wet body plastered against her's as Lucy hugged her tightly, the social securities are rounding up, taking pictures of the scene and observing the entire place for any more threats.

The huge sobs tearing out from Melanie's throat has never been heard of, it's so loud and filled with so many emotions.

She thought he'd come.

But obviously he doesn't care about her. She left the mansion and he never bothered to see if she's alive or dead, God. She feels so stupid right now.

Like, what was she expecting?

Thane can never and will never be her knight in shining armor, he's a monster, he doesn't feel, he's self-absorbed, too up in his stupid ego to care about anyone else but himself. He's just like the rest of them.

Selfish.

"Who did this to you?" Lucy asked, pulling away from the hug and Melanie grabbed her hands, pulling her towards the booth of the van that's wide open.

"He's the one." Melanie said, her chest heaving slightly and Lucy takes a good look at the man who's face is covered in blood with a knife nailed to his forehead like a dart.

Lucy gasped, retreating her steps and pulling Melanie along with her.

Even after all these years, it doesn't take a minute for Lucy to recognize one of her own. Now it's glaringly clear, they know she's alive and Melanie isn't safe, what she has been trying to prevent has finally come to life.

And now, she doesn't even have it in her to hate Thane, despite all the horrible things he said, this is her fault, they attacked Melanie because of her and it's either she runs or something terrible might actually happen for real.

"Do you know him?" Melanie suddenly asked and Lucy snapped her head to her direction, a panic expression marring her features and she gulped.

"I have no idea who he is." She said, and it's almost true, while she doesn't know who exactly this man is, she knows her family are behind the attack.

Someone has found out about her whereabouts.

How?

"Mrs King." A social worker called and Melanie it took Melanie a few minutes to slowly turn around, facing the good Samaritan and a small smile tipped her lips.

"Yes." She answered, walking up to him.

"You will have to come with us, our boss made it very clear that we bring you to him alive and in good health or he'd have our heads." The older man chuckled lightly and Melanie smiled.

Who could have possibly sent them.

"I would love to go home with my assistant, I promise to come see your boss tomorrow morning, can I get your address?" She asked and the older man was hesitant for a minute before pulling out a card.

"That's our card, see you tomorrow morning, Mrs King." He said and Melanie took the card, smiling a little before turning around and walking towards Lucy.

"Don't you think you should go home to him?" Lucy asked, pulling out Melanie's phone and handing it over to her.

"No." Melanie spat with a frown on her face. "I don't want to see him." Melanie adds and Lucy nods, walking out of the deck and Melanie followed.

The ringing of her phone has her looking at the screen and when she did, she immediately turned it off.

He must be delusional if he thinks she's going to respond to his calls.

★

★Lucy's Penthouse★

Stepping into the house she once called her own, Melanie sighed softly, watching as Lucy shut the door with an extra lock and she raised her eyebrows.

"Why are there so many locks?" Melanie asked, unwrapping herself and her damp cloth comes into view, her torn skirt is almost shredded and the urge to hit the shower becomes stronger by the minute.

"I'm just being safe." Lucy smiled, showing off more teeth than usual and Melanie immediately suspects something is going on.

"Luce, please I need you to be honest with me." Melanie voiced out and Lucy's eyes widened slightly, leaning against the door to avoid body contact but Melanie isn't having it.

She can't possibly bring herself to tell her about her true identity, Melanie would freak out and probably never want to have anything to do with her ever again. Her life is complicated and it's better Melanie knows nothing.

For the sake of their friendship, at least.

"I have a feeling that the information he was hoarding me for has something to do with you because let's face it, you are the only friend that I have, I don't know anybody else and your existence is a mystery to everyone. So please, I need you to open up to me. Please." Melanie pointed out softly and Lucy looked away from her.

"There's really nothing interesting about me, Ms Melanie. I'm not sure I'm the reason he attacked you." Lucy said and Melanie raised an eyebrow at her.

Without saying a word, she turned around and head for the stairs, climbing up and pushing the door the room that was once her's open, stepping inside, she immediately noticed something different.

The scent.

Her strawberry scent is completely gone, now filled with Lilies, it's strange how someone has matured as Lucy would opt for something so..... Childish but it's just who she is.

This room no longer has any trace of Melanie, the huge posters of different models, the arts of the movies from the early twenties are gone, replaced with scrubs of cutouts from books. And when Melanie turned to the side corner, a huge shelve filled with different genres of books are pilled from the very top to bottom.

This room is so Lucy.

Stepping into the closet, she got rid of her clothes, head for the bathroom and by the time she's done scrubbing off all the night's rollercoaster away, she flops on her àss right under the shower, her head bowed and water running down on her.

She feels weak.

Traumatized.

Hurt.

Even swallowing down her own saliva feels like a whole pack of nails is being dumped into her mouth and she can't force them down.

Recovering from this experience is going to be tough.

Melanie has never been attacked before, she doesn't even know what it feels like to be in trouble but tonight proves that bad things happen.

'Bad things happen and there's absolutely nothing one can do to change it'

Thane's words pierced through her bubble and she slowly raised her head.

'i like facing my fears, challenging them, and not running away, that's what makes me stronger.'

Realization hits her square in the face.

If only she had read more meaning behind his words.

'You are a queen, don't you know that?'

Why did it take her this long to figure it out?

Thane never meant to let her get ridiculed. He was given her a free leeway to stand up for herself, challenge his brother's toy and face her fears....

He's been proving to her that she's his and he wanted to see if she would claim him just like he's been doing this whole time.

"Fuçking bastard." Melanie chuckled lightly, the heavy water hitting her whole body.

This proves that she still has a lot to learn on how to be a King.

Just because she got confronted about her Dad being a thief, she got scared, humiliated and ran away.

Instead of giving that stupid bitçh a dirty slap and proving she's nothing like her father.

"I still have a lot to learn, Thane." She said under her breath, tipping her head back and letting the water do justice to her aching muscles.

Climbing down the stairs in one of her old wears, Melanie spots Lucy on the couch, her legs curled up on it and a bowl of cereal on both hands.

"Can I join?" Melanie asked with a smile, flopping beside her and Lucy chuckled lightly.

"No need to ask when I already got you a spoon." Lucy said, and indeed there's an extra spoon in the bowl.

In less than five minutes, they finished the whole thing and Lucy placed the bowl on the center table, turning slightly to look at Melanie who's staring at nothing in particular.

That guilty feeling perks in again but Lucy forced it down.

"He bought me an entire Creamery factory today." Melanie muttered in the dim lit room and Lucy's lips parted slightly in shock.

"What?" Lucy asked incredibly.

"He said he doesn't want me to stress about filling up the refrigerator every damn time, so the best idea was to get me my own place where I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want." Melanie said, hugging her knees to herself.

Lucy couldn't believe her ears.

Wasn't he the same man who said he didn't give a fuçk about Melanie a few hours ago?

Something isn't right.

"What caused this whole shît in the first place?" Lucy asked and Melanie sighed.

"He took me to meet his brothers, I think he wants me to be friendly with them, and then everything was going well until I got confronted by their slût." Melanie paused to smile sadly. "I could have handled things better but I didn't. I got scared and left. Maybe a sick part of me was hoping Thane would stand up for me..... When I should have done that myself."

Lucy's eyes softened in realization.

So Melanie got out of control and she blamed Thane for what happened.

"Have you ever heard of a delayed reaction?" Lucy asked and Melanie tilt her neck to look at her.

"What's that?" Melanie asked and Lucy smiled, throwing a hand over Melanie's shoulders and pulling her close.

"Maybe if you had waited just a little bit longer..... You would have seen a side of Thane you haven't seen before." Lucy said and Melanie chuckled dryly.

"What side?" Melanie asked in exasperation and Lucy placed a soft kiss at the top of her head.

"A side where he'd show you just how much of a King lives in the body of a Queen.... Which is you." Lucy whispered and Melanie's heart skipped several jagged beats. Threatening to create a hole through her chest.

"But he's still wrong." Melanie pointed out and Lucy nods.

"Yes he is.... Which is why you won't make things easy for him." Lucy pointed out and Melanie smiled appreciating.

"Of course, I won't." She muttered, both of them hugging each other into the night.

★

★The. Next. Day.★

★Samantha's Penthouse. Arlington.★

After being rudely shut down by Lucy, Samantha decided to take matters into her own hands and left Dellas Texas that very day, she arrived Arlington very late at night and decided to visit Melanie the next day.... Which is today.

Stepping out of the her majestic room in her nightwear, she pulled off the facemask she always has on every night and tossed it in a trash down the hallway that leads downstairs.

Samantha is living the life of every single Mother who's not in any committed relationships.

Not with her biological parents. Her family. Her child. Her ex-husband. Literally no one.

As long as the money doesn't stop flowing, then she's all good.

Climbing down the stairs, she stopped at the landing and her eyebrows pitched forward in a frown.

"What are you doing here, Lia?" Samantha asked, displeasure clearly visible on her gorgeous morning face.

"Do you know how you sound like right now?" Lia asked, lounging on the couch in front of the stairs and sipping from a coffee mug. "You sound like all these badass billionaires with zero life commitments, waking up after a drunken night to meet their hookups still hovering around." Lia adds with a smirk and Samantha rolled her eyes.

"You are not getting out of this with a lame joke." Samantha said, leaning on the railing and giving Lia the stink eye.

"Well, at least I'm married, and I've got kids and a happy family and I don't waste my fortunes on baseless trips and fake àss friends." Lia jabbed and Samantha's eyes widened slightly.

"Did you come to my house by this time of the morning to insult me?" Samantha asked, her anger bubbling under the surface and threatening to spill.

"Sam, when last did you drop by to see Mom?" Lia questioned with an edge. "Our Mother. The same woman that gave birth to us?. Do you know that woman has forgotten what her grand daughter looks like?. I bet Melanie doesn't even remember she still has a grandmother!" Lia spat in distain, dropping the mug on a small stool near by.

"We visited a few years ago!" Samantha yelled and Lia got on her feet Instantly.

"A few years ago when Melanie was five!?" Lia jabbed.

"Oh please." Samantha rolled her eyes, getting into the living room fully. "And so what?. It's better than nothing."

"What is wrong with you?" Lia asked in utmost distress. "Did you know what happened yesterday?" Lia asked and Samantha scrunched her face.

"What?" Samantha asked, her confusion tangible.

"Well, if you've been a good Mother and actually check up on your daughter, you would know she got attacked by some weirdo last night!." Lia yelled and all the color drained from Samantha's face.

"What?" Samantha asked incredibly, grabbing the remote control and turning on the TV.

"It's not just on the news, it's all over the internet. The King's social security's team posted a live crime scene of what happened to your daughter." Lia blasted. "Apparently she got attacked on her way home last night. And if Thane hadn't been smart enough, then I'm pretty sure Melanie's lifeless body would have been found rotting in Arlington's lakeside!"

Samantha is reeling from shock has she hits the news channel, and behold, a blurring image of a man laying almost lifeless is being displayed, the whole chaos unfolding right on the screen and a blurred image of Melanie being washed is glaring back at Samantha.

Different social securities roaming around and trying to get things in order.

And right at the bottom of the screen is a headline....

'THANE KING organizes his special security team in rescuing his wife, threatening to bring harm if anything should happen to her.'

"How did I not know this?" Samantha asked and Lia grabbed her shoulders roughly, spinning her around and landing a deafening slap on her face.

Everywhere falls silent, only the news reporter narrating the incident report on the screen could be heard.

Samantha's eyes are wide, her hand holding up her burning cheek and Lia raising her own hand to hit her again but Samantha was quick enough to dodge the second hit.

"Are you seriously asking that question!?" Lia thundered, stalking towards Samantha who backed away from her. "How horrible can you be?. I ought to find your stupid ex of a husband and cut off his dîck because he doesn't deserve to be a father!." Lia spat and Samantha flinched.

Lia's face is red with anger.

"And you might as well sell off your womb because you don't deserve to mother a child!." Lia blurted out again, her angry words slicing through the air.

"Get out." Samantha voiced out, her cheek tingling from the slap earlier.

"You are a horrible child, a horrible daughter, a horrible sister and a fuçking horrible Mother!" Lia jabbed and Samantha felt the words cutting through her skin.

"Get the fuçk out of my house!" Samantha yelled, pointing at the entrance and Lia chuckled lightly, looking at the direction and back at Samantha.

"You are obsessed with Martinez's wealth, ain't ya?" Lia scoffed. "But I promise you this. If he loses everything— which I'm certain he will. Don't you dare come back to us. You don't have a family anymore and you just lost a sister." Lia adds and Samantha scoffed.

"Like I ever needed you." Samantha rolled her eyes, propping her hands underneath her boobs.

"God, I hate you so much." Lia spat aggressively. "I hope you die lonely!" She adds not waiting for Samantha's retort as she turned around and walked right out of the house.

Samantha gulped down, jogging up the stairs and grabbing her phone. She dialed Martinez's number and he picked up at the third ring.

"What do you want?" Comes Martinez's stern voice and Samantha paced around her huge room.

"Melanie got attacked." Samantha voiced out.

"What?..... How come you are just telling me now?" Martinez asked, genuinely surprised.

"Yeah, apparently we're shît when it comes to parenting." Samantha replied with a scoff.

★Sabrina's Resident★

Today being the second day of rehearsal, Judith stepped out of her room looking all dressed up, she pushed the door to Sabrina's room, pushing it open and a light gasp escaped her lips.

Sabrina's room is empty and nobody is inside.

"Sarah!" Judith yelled, slamming the door to Sabrina's room shut and running down the stairs in a really fast pace.

"Sarah!" Judith yelled again, louder than the first time.

"Oh my fuçking god, Judith. It's Monday morning and way too early to start yelling my name like that." Sarah huffed, coming out of the kitchen while also looking completely dressed up for work.

"I can't find Sabrina." Judith voiced out panickly. "We're supposed to be at MGM studios in the next forty-two minutes and I can't find her!" Judith yelled and Sarah chuckled lightly.

"Well, she told me she was going to get something and will be back real quick. Although she was holding a meduim sized bag.....I didn't really pay much attention to what she was doing actually." Sarah said nonchalantly and Judith's face paled.

"No. No" Judith muttered, grabbing her phone and hitting Sabrina's number. "She told me she wouldn't do this, she can't possibly blow everything off for a dîck!" Judith chaste, running a hand through her dark hair and Sarah's eyes widened.

"Oh fuçk!" Sarah exclaimed in shock. "She was actually leaving for Spain!?"

Judith didn't respond, rather her ear is guled to the ringing phone.

"Sabrina speaking." Her voice filters through and Judith breaths out softly.

"Sab. I know you haven't gotten far, please just turn around and come back home to us." Judith said, watching Sarah has she's also looking completely lost for words.

"I'm sorry I can't." Sabrina simply said. "I'm already at the airport and my flight leaves in twenty minutes." She adds and Judith flops on the couch.

"Which airport?" Judith asked.

"I can't tell you because I don't want you ruining my plans." Sabrina pointed out and Judith ruffles her hair.

"Are you seriously risking your career for a guy!?" Judith asked with bulging eyes.

"I don't care, Judith. Tell Keith he can replace me if he can't wait till I get back." Sabrina muttered and before Judith could refute, she ends the call.

"What did she say?" Sarah asked and Judith lets out a breath.

"That she doesn't care." Judith answered and Sarah eyes widened slightly.

What the fuçk?

★

★Social Securities★

After signing different papers confirming that she's infact, in good health and is free to go about on her normal life, Melanie stepped out of the main security office, strolling towards the entrance with the Head of security beside her, Lucy is walking behind, scrolling through her phone and the trending topic.

Melanie's attack seems to have attracted a lot of attention as the internet is blowing up her socials with questions and sympathy, it's funny how a few weeks ago, she was getting roasted for being with Thane.

Melanie hasn't checked any of her socials, infact, she refused to watch the news when it popped up as they were having breakfast, but Lucy watched and she saw the brain behind Melanie's safety.

How did he do it?

"Oh, Ms Melanie. I'm afraid you can't leave yet." The Head of security said as Melanie steps out of the building completely, Lucy brought her here with the official car and they're about to carry on with their day.

Melanie paused to look at him, a frown marred on her face.

"Why?" She asked, obviously not happy with the way he refused to let her go. She already signed the damn papers, she's not feeling awkward about what happened so she doesn't need medical care, so what the fuçk does he want?

"Our boss was very upset when we came without you last night. He said and I quote... "Disobeying direct order means risking your jobs and you all are obviously tired of having one." The head security officer paused to smile. "I love my job."

"We don't have time for this." Lucy breaths out. "Who the fuçk is your boss?"

Before the security officer could respond, a Lamborghini Aventador drives right into the building, it's presence causing officers casually walking around to pause and halt in a salute, Melanie swiftly turned around, her eyes widened slightly as her husband stepped right out of the car, his hard features sending tingle bolts down her spine.

"Mr Thane." The Head security officer salutes, and that's when Melanie realized that Thane has his own fuçking security team.

"I wouldn't have hesitated to fire you and all of your team if I hadn't met her here." Thane's deep voice penetrates through and the Head security officer smiled.

"I wouldn't dare to risk my job, sir." He said, giving a light nod before walking back inside, on cue, the rest of the officers carried on with their activities as Melanie stood frozen in shock.

Now she understands the knife.

"What the fuçk are you doing here?" Lucy spat, coming to stand in front of Melanie. "I thought you said you didn't care about what happened to her. That's it's non of your concern, what the fuçk are you playing at now?" Lucy is seething vehemently and Thane gave her a once over.

"Calling my strategic planning "Me not caring about my wife" is blasphemy." Thane's voice sliced through the air and Lucy gulped. "I'm not implusive, Lucy. I knew my wife was in trouble before you did and I knew you would get out of control and do something stupid, like going after her without having any backup." Thane's voice took a different edge.

"But I thought...."

"You thought wrong." Thane cuts her off. "If I hadn't said what I did, you would have gotten to the crime scene before my team had the chance to and even at that, I had to come up with a distraction to hold you back. Do you know what would have happened if I wasn't smart?" He asked and Lucy gulped.

"You would have been killed and while I don't really give a fuçk about that.... Melanie does and I can't risk getting her upset. So you don't get to tell me what to do when my wife is in danger because as long as I'm breathing raw air and still alive, nothing and when I say nothing, I mean absolutely nothing will ever happen to her. Do you hear me?" He voiced out and Lucy slowly stepped away from Melanie.

"Glad we have a mutual understanding." He said, turning away from Lucy to glare at his wife. "You are coming home with me right now." He simply grabbed Melanie's hand, ripping her off her trance and her eyes widened.

"But what about Lucy and work!?" Melanie asked, trotting behind him as he pulled her towards his car.

"Lucy can find her way home. I don't give a fuçk about anything else." Was his sharp reply as he opened the passenger seat and lifts her right inside.

Lucy watched in awe as they left.

★

★Melanie's/ Thane's Resident★

He won't look at her.

Melanie watched as Thane slammed the side of his car shut and rounded up to the other side, opening the passenger seat and lifting her out of it. He looks so angry right now that her grip on him tightened up as he takes her into the house.

"I left my phone with Lucy." Melanie whispered as he pushed the door to the living room open.

"I will buy you a new one." He simply retorted, walking towards the huge counter and placing her on it.

Shrugging off his jacket and tossing it aside, he heads for the kitchen cabinet and grabbed an antiseptic wipe, coming back and sitting on the stool softener in front of Melanie, filling the space right between her legs like he has every right to.

Melanie watched as he pushes the hair off her forehead and a red bruise comes into view, his jaw ticked at the red, swollen bump, wiping it gently, his stonic expression intact as he does the cleaning.

"You were behind the knife, weren't you?" She asked gently, reaching a hand out and cupping his nape, allowing her fingers find their way into his soft curls.

While Thane doesn't show it. It actually feels good having her realize her mistakes.

"Don't you ever fuçking run away from me again." He seethe, not answering her question and barely containing his rage. "Do you know how worried I was?. I thought I'd fuçking lost you." He adds and her eyes watered.

"I was really angry." Melanie admits.

"Is this how you are going to be?. Running away at every single inconvenience?. I thought you were stronger than that." He huffed and Melanie bites her lips.

"I am. But she was putting on your shirt." Melanie adds and Thane smriked slowly, his anger weavering into thin air, lifting himself off the stool and slowly unbuttoning his white sleeve shirt.

"Yeah. The one I never actually got to put on. I never wore that shirt." He muttered, reaching for her's and unbuttoning it as well. Telling Melanie about what he later did to Beatrice was a surprise for another day.

Melanie watched as he pulled off her shirt, his eyes drinking in the sight of her breasts pressing against her bra before slowly putting on his shirt, he doesn't button it up though, because for some reason, she looks fuçking hot sitting there like that in his shirt.

Melanie couldn't contain her giddiness as she smiled at his action.

"Are you a queen or a little girl?" He asked and she watched as he sits again, parting her legs wide and leaning on her lap.

"I'm a queen." She confirmed.

"Good, so I want you to always act like it. You are beautiful, confident, independent and so fuçking hot. Don't let anyone say less about you. Be the woman I married not the one who gets all girly and runs away at every single confrontation." Thane scolds and Melanie bites back a smile.

"You know I wasn't cut out for this right?" She asked and he raised an eyebrow.

"For what?" He asked.

"Being this big bad woman married to a ruthless business tycoon." She drinks in his shirtless body. Her own body getting hotter by the minute "Girls my age usually have boyfriends, crushes, urges, fun and wild adventures." She adds.

"Being with me is an adventure on it's own." Thane muttered. "And what urges are you talking about?" He asked.

"Uhh?" She asked, surprised.

Of course, that's only the aspect he focused on.

"You said, girls your age usually have boyfriends, crushes, urges and fun... So tell me Sunshine, what kind of urges are we talking about here?"

Maybe it's because she's high on different emotions, and accepting the fact that indeed it's about time she steps out of her denial bubble and actually see what lurks deep within her monster of a husband.

To see how far she can push him.

To see what it's like when he's the one disoriented and so out of his fuçking ballsy element.

Biting her lips, Melanie leaned forward, trailing her fingers on his taut, sharp jawline and tipping his chin up to look at her properly, those dark eyes that she has come to love the feel of having on her every single time staring back intensely.

"Sèxual urges." She whispered in a breathy voice that surprises her.

And Thane too.
