I don't know about any of you other fine hivers out there, but I must admit that I suck at curating. Wait, let me clarify, I certainly know the how and why of it, but for whatever reason, the curation rewards I get are not even close to where they could be.
This is a snap of my curation % from a few days ago, on my hivestats page..
Now, I am no whale with tons of HP, so won't be retiring on my curation rewards.. but I have read that a curation % of 8% is a good average and I have even seen %'s as high as 13-18%
I finally decided to try and fix this as it is a significant amount I'm missing out on. A fellow hiver and friend of mine.. 
Here is his most recent list that he posted showing what APR he gets from each delegation. (based on what rewards he already got)
I just started with the highest % from this list.. ecency. Now, I've seen this list from him before, but always dismissed it as too good to be true. Now, I've decided it's time to find out for myself and do something about it.
I have known for a long time that ecency was one of the most popular frontends for the hive blockchain. When I started hiving, I used peakd only and just loved the platform, so I didn't look around too much at the other hive frontends. I now use ecency for posting and a few other tasks (it works great and looks friendlier maybe? :), and still prefer the wallet and 'feed' features on peakd.
Did you know that ecency gives you 'ecency points' for every little thing that you do on their platform? For example, I am using ecency to write and post this, so I am earning 15 points. It's not much, but they add up fast!

That means for every 10 HP delegated to ecency, you will get 1 point in daily rewards, ON TOP of receiving the curation % from daily rewards. In other words, it's a BONUS, but the impact it can make is pretty significant.
A word on using ecency points.. I found that when you have accumulated enough, you can trade them directly for an amount of HBD, and also for 150 points (or more.. it's up to u how much u want to boost, but the minimum is 150) you can 'boost', that is have ecency upvote your post $1.00 or more. How cool it that?!
I went ahead and did a small test.. delegating 100 HP to ecency.
and here is what I got for a daily curation reward
So, multiplied by 365 (days).. 0.025 HP x 365 = 9.125 HP
or a little more than 9% on my 100 HP
This is already a good curation % IMHO, but with the points? well, it's simply great!
ps. it can fluctuate based on the price of HIVE (I think that's how it works)
pss. My plan is to delegate to ecency AND use their platform a bunch, earning bonus points the whole time and then 'boost' my posts whenever I have enough points. :)
