Today I must ask you for an exercise of imagination such as you have never thought of if you wish to know a little more about the origin of the city of Rome, today we will know the most noble of the seven hills of Rome where it is said that the she-wolf suckled her cubs and gave birth to the city around which the ancient world revolved.

Hoy debo pedirles un ejercicio de imaginación como jamás hayan pensado ejercitar si desean conocer un poco más de cerca el origen de la ciudad de Roma, hoy conoceremos la más noble de las siete colinas de Roma donde cuentan que la loba amamantó a sus lobeznos y dio origen a la ciudad alrededor de la cual giraba el mundo antiguo.

As the origin of the city of Rome the nobles and later emperors built their homes on that hill from where you could see all the Roman Forum, real palaces full of slaves who performed all the tasks including some of private origin, the riches and their way of life are exposed despite the passage of centuries, you can still breathe that air of fresh and free of noise and crowds, only the chosen ones stepped on that hill.

Como origen de la ciudad de Roma los nobles y posteriormente emperadores construyeron sus viviendas en dicha colina desde donde se divisaba todo el Foro Romano, auténticos palacios repletos de esclavos que realizaban todas las tareas inclusive algunas de origen privado, las riquezas y su forma de vida quedan al descubierto a pesar del paso de los siglos, aún se respira ese aire de lugar fresco y libre de ruidos y muchedumbre, sólo los elegidos pisaban esa colina.

There are not many palaces that can be identified, but through the wise words of the guides that I repeat tirelessly without hesitation you can see the old hill as if we had it in front of our eyes, it is fantastic to imagine a place through the words and certain archaeological remains that give meaning to space and time in that place that perhaps was paralyzed centuries ago.

Identificables no existen muchos palacios pero a través de las sabían palabras de los guías a los que vuelvo a a repetir incansablemente contraten sin dudar se puede ver la antigua colina como si la tuviéramos frente a los ojos, es fantástico imaginar un lugar a través de las palabras y ciertos restos arqueológicos que le dan sentido al espacio y el tiempo en ese lugar que quizás se paralizó siglos atrás.

It may be really exceptional that some buildings still have walls that do not need so much imagination but the reality is that of great marble constructions fallen by the passage of time, earthquakes and later civilizations in charge of covering what was not theirs.

Fantastic the spaces where the great courtyards were deployed with pools and bridges over them so that the nobles spent much of their time, today they are simple foundations that delimit the space but leave beautiful pictures of the current Roman villas of those great aristocrats of heritage, beautiful cypresses and pines (Pinus Pinea) so characteristic.

Fantásticos los espacios donde se desplegaban los grandes patios con piscinas y puentes sobre ellas para que los nobles pasaban gran parte del tiempo, hoy son simples basamentos que delimitan el espacio pero que dejan preciosas estampas de las villas romanas actuales de esos grandes aristócratas de herencia, hermosos los cipreses y los pinos (Pinus Pinea) tan característicos.

I was very surprised by the state of that fountain in a magnificent courtyard of the domus flavia, including although not appreciated a beautiful blue background of tiles and drawings very careful as well as the floor of the corridors were a beautiful marble.

Me sorprendió muchísimo el estado de esa fuente en un magnifico patio de la domus flavia, incluye aunque no se aprecie un precioso fondo azul de azulejos y dibujos muy cuidado así como el suelo de los pasillos eran de un precioso mármol.

There are hardly any remains of certain buildings but they beautifully reflect the way of life of the Roman nobles, large rooms where they had offices, beautiful halls with large columns and beautiful floors, cozy bedrooms and large baths within the palaces themselves.

Apenas quedan vestigios de ciertas edificaciones pero reflejan con belleza el modo de vida de los nobles romanos, grandes estancias donde disponían de despachos, preciosos salones con grandes columnas y bellos suelos, dormitorios acogedores y grandes termas dentro de los propias palacios.

Emperor Augustus is the first great emperor to build his palace on the Palatine Hill based on the legend of Romulus and Remus and after him many were the emperors who built their palaces expanding that palace considerably.

El emperador Augusto es el primer gran emperador que levanta su palacio en el Monte Palatino en base a la leyenda de Romulo y Remo y tras el muchos fueron los emperadores que levantaron sus palacios ampliando ese palatino de forma considerable.

Perhaps it was the mixture of solemn place and the panoramic views of the Colosseum and the Roman Forum that induced that place to become what it was for the nobility and the great emperors, I can testify that if I could have chosen a place in ancient Rome to dominate and lead an empire it would possibly have been from the hill of Monte Palatino.

Quizás fue la mezcla de lugar solemne y las panorámicas vistas del Coliseo y el Foro romano lo que indujo a ese lugar a convertirse en lo que fue para la nobleza y los grandes emperadores, yo puedo atestiguar que si hubiera podido que elegir un lugar de la antigua Roma para dominar y dirigir un imperio posiblemente habría sido desde la colina del Monte Palatino.
