He comes home with the bus
Alighting at the same spot each day
Even his daughter now knows
Where daddy drops.
He comes home with a smile
With one or two gifts
For mama and her kids
Who are also his.
He calls me pet names
Then plays with my sister
Until she is all happy and smiling
Just before I say goodnight.
He remembers his family daily
Until the dead of the night
Then he sleeps
The cycle to resume again.
