Grasshopper is any group of jumping insects that are found in a variety of habitats. They are normally found in lowland tropical forests, grasslands and semiarid region. They are in large numbers in Africa. Grasshoppers, there colour ranges from green to brown and maybe yellow or red markings. There are different species grasshopper such as meadow grasshopper, elegant grasshopper and eastern lubber grasshopper etc. Grasshopper belong to family acrididae. Some specie of grasshopper are adapted to specialized habitat such as the South American grasshopper of Paulinidae that spend most of there lives on floating vegetation and actively swim, lay eggs on underwater aquatic plants. The femur region of the upper hindlegs of grasshopper is greatly enlarged and contain large muscles that make the legs well adapted for leaping. The male grasshopper can produce a buzzing sound by rubbing it's front wings together. Grasshopper senses touch through organs like antennae, Palps on the head, receptors on the leg etc. Most of them are herbivores, meaning they eat grasses. They are dried, and roasted for meal and eaten as food in some parts of the world like some part of Africa. They can be controlled in nature by predators such as frog snakes and birds and they can also be controlled by human with insecticides when they become crop pests!IMG_20180415_110706_506.JPG
