Introducing an Australian gem, Jervis Bay, just a 2.5 hour drive south of Sydney.
My travelling buddy was one of my best friends from high school. She studies Medicine interstate and comes down to Sydney roughly 3 times a year. To mark our 9 year friendship and to finally go on a trip together, we quickly planned this mini road trip to Jervis Bay. Cranking up the tunes on our specially curated Spotify playlist, we began our drive.
Jervis Bay is known to be a place with one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - Hyams Beach. Think soft white sand and the bluest water. It's currently Summer, so it does get quite crowded with both tourists and locals. However, the secret is to walk further down the beach and slowly you'll find less people and more personal sand space.
On our way, we stopped by this popular and highly recommended cinnamon donut shop called the Donut Van. The donut itself was incredibly soft and instantly melted in my mouth the moment I took a bite. Definitely worth the hype!
First Time Living in A Caravan
Our accommodation was a spacious caravan, parked next to our host's house. It had everything you could possibly need, and this experience definitely made me realise the benefits of getting a caravan and just driving everywhere! We could even make delicious Nachos (recipe to be posted!)
Beyond the No Access Gate
For one of the nights, my best friend wanted to view the sunset from a cliff called Point Perpendicular. Living up to its name, it was a very steep cliff. We had to drive 20 minutes on very gravelly road that at times, made our car rattle so hard that we could only drive at a snail's pace. When we arrived at the parking area, it was empty except for one group of 3 that arrived just before us. We followed them, a little apprehensive on where they were going, as they led us past the 'no access' gate. We were met with a breathtaking view!
We arrived at the perfect time - golden hour!
We sat on the edge of the cliff and enjoyed as the sun dipped behind the ocean and the clouds turned into vibrant pink cotton candy.
If you're making plans to travel to Australia, I highly recommend putting Jervis Bay on your list of places to visit! You'll be greeted with stunning and picturesque views :)
