The Problem

Engagement is somewhat lacking in the #Hive ecosystem. Quite often, posts that don't make it into the trending section get very little engagement other than a few votes. It's entirely understandable that low quality posts would suffer from this, but how can we design our posts and modify our behaviour to encourage more engagement?

The Solution

  1. Run a contest: Some authors run contests and giveaways that encourage people to comment on their posts. A recent example of this is this contest by xplosive@xplosive.
  2. Upvote good comments on your posts: Even if your posts only get a few comments, make the effort to upvote comments that contribute to the conversation. Your followers and readers may start to recognise commenting on your posts as an opportunity to earn more author rewards. Remember that this is also an opportunity to earn curation rewards!
  3. Reply to comments on your posts: Start a conversation. Remember that the goal here is engagement. The more you engage with your readers, the more likely they are to engage with you.
