I have always believed that there's something magical and special about weekend escapes, especially when the sun is shining and the waves want to play with you. Last weekend, my partner and I planned on setting off on our motorbike for a day at San Miguel Beach in San Antonio, Zambales.
The nice weather said hello to us as we zipped along the highway, and the green fields made the trip more alive. We could see the mountains surrounding us and the tall trees just across the street. I always feel like riding together on the motorbike brings a special kind of freedom and excitement as I look forward to where we are going.
When we got to San Miguel Beach, the perfect weather greeted us: blue skies and the sunshine reflecting on the ocean. We parked the motorbike and walked to a nipa hut to rest and take in the beautiful beach view. Then we had lunch before enjoying the seashore.
After eating, I felt the urge to go to the shore. I brought my camera and phone stand with me as I decided to go on a solo picture-taking adventure while my partner was busy eating. I started wandering barefoot along the sand, and I could feel the warmth of the day. The sun was all over my skin, and I wanted to make the most of it by making sure I clicked the shutter. The sound of the waves was calming to my ears, and for a few moments, it was just me, the sea, and the sky.
When my partner finished eating, I saw him walking towards my spot. He later joined me at the water's edge, and we played with the waves. It was time to take pictures together. Sometimes we posed, and most of the time we just laughed at the silly faces we made. My partner is not into taking pictures, as he has no patience with posing for the camera. But this time, he spent some time with me taking photos at the beach.
By late afternoon, the beach had given us a beautiful sunset, and it meant it was time to head home. We truly enjoyed this quick escape, and we will remember the shared smiles through the pictures we have. As we packed up and got ready, I took one last glimpse at the beach and said that we would definitely go back with more memories to treasure. We left San Miguel Beach with salty hair and hearts full of happiness, already planning our next escape again.
