We welcomed the morning with excitement as we all dressed up for a special occasion. My nephew’s drum and lyre competition had finally arrived, and everyone in the family felt proud and excited about his journey. I took a shower and picked out my clothes, wanting to look presentable for such an important event. My Mama and Grandma also started dressing up since we would be watching his performance together.
When we were good to go, we drove to the competition site, and we knew how much this day meant to my nephew. We can see it through his eyes - the mixed emotions of being nervous and excited. The whole ride was filled with light laughter and words of encouragement from us. We know how he worked hard for this moment, and we saw him almost give up at first.
When we arrived at the venue, there were already audiences and contestants around. The colorful costumes and well-designed instruments were everywhere. We found our seats and settled in. The competition hadn't started yet, so we grabbed the chance to take photos with him. My nephew’s group was scheduled to perform later in the program, so we watched the other performers first.
Finally, the moment arrived, and it was their time to shine. As my nephew’s group marched confidently onto the stage, our family straightened in our seats, eyes glued to the performers - especially my nephew. As I watched my nephew, I noticed how focused and determined he looked with his drums held high. He has grown into a talented boy now. I cannot stop myself from cheering them on, and my heart's racing with pride. The performance ended successfully, and the audience applauded their performance as they made their final march and drum rolls.
Watching my nephew perform, surrounded by family, was a moment I’ll cherish forever. I know that he will also remember this very moment, seeing us give him our fullest support. We feel proud of each achievement he accomplishes and every talent he unleashes.
