The writer and speaker John Erskine (1879-1951) declared that he learned the most valuable lesson of his life when he was 14 years old. his piano teacher asked him how much time he was practicing, and he answered that he usually sat down to play the instrument for an hour or more at a time.
<<-Do not do that - the teacher warned him -. When you are older, you will not have such long periods available. Practice for a few minutes whenever you can: 5 or 10 before school, a few after lunch. If you distribute practice moments during the day, music will become part of your life>>.
Erskine said later that by following that advice, he could live a full life as a creative writer, in addition to performing his usual duties as a teacher. he wrote almost all his most famous work, "Helena of Troy", while traveling by tram from his house to the university.
How can you use your free moments well? Consider carrying a Bible with you or a devotional book. Use the time to read, pray or write a note of encouragement or warning to someone in need.
Beware of wasting the present! Instead of killing time, redeem your free moments today.
To waste the time that is given to you, insults your Giver.
