One of the important parts of a decision is that we can see the positive side of it even if we don't continue. That is more valuable than regretting it. Feeling all that grew with the new idea and the courage it produced to leave what I was no longer enjoying.
Something like that has happened to me and I really don't regret it. At a peak moment in my career I started to become disappointed with academia and after a specialization and two master's degrees I decided that I didn't want to continue towards a doctorate. Drawing and painting caught my attention and they were the best years. No, I don't regret it.
