It came as a shock to both the fans and the players as Manchester City lost to Crystal Palace with a goal margin of 2:3 on Saturday. Manchester city recently dropped down from the first position on the league table to Liverpool and have lost another game to Crystal Palace.

The Citys manager Pep Guardiola made a statement which implied a play down on the defeat. He said that Manchester City still have alot more matches to play. As true as that is, one could interpret that statement to mean playing down on a defeat.

The defeat at Etihad means that Manchester City is now 4 points behind Liverpool. The top two in the premier league are scheduled to meet on the 3rd of January. However, Guardiola seem to be thinking about his next match with Leicester, on Boxing Day.

When Pep was asked if he sees a victory over Liverpool as imperative, his response was: Imperative is the next game, the problem is when you think about the future and are not in the present. We have Leicester and Southampton away, they are the most important games. He also explained that his team did not play badly against Crystal Palace.
