The former Chelseas and now athletico Madrid striker was sent off by the official Jesus Gil Manzano during his side’s 2-0 loss to Barcelona. This is as a result of an alleged abuse of the official by Diego Costa.
The striker was later found guilty and has been sanctioned to an 8 match band by the Spanish football federation. The official claimed after the match that the Spanish striker had “insulted his mother”, and he had to send him off.
Costa who appears against the ban was given 4 match suspension for insults to the referee and a further four for grabbing the official’s arm. This means that he wont play any more LA liga games this season because there are only 7 matches left.
This is not good especially for athletico Madrid who is 11 point behind the first at the league table with 7 matches to go.
