This jives with an experience I had back when I was doing my mandatory military conscription. We had a section's night out and so we headed for a bar. When the bill came, it was about $19 per person so we just passed $20 to the fella settling the bill.

No one bothered to ask for that $1 change back except the guy driving a Bentley and whose father was worth ~$100M. That incident has stayed with me nearly 20 years lol.
