Ruins of a copper smelter in the village of Verkhotor, Bashkiria. The plant began its work in the middle of the 17th century. In its best times, about 1,500 people worked here. Copper was smelted here from raw materials that were mined in nearby mines. At the beginning of the 19th century, copper ore reserves were depleted and the plant was closed. In Soviet times, they tried to establish some kind of production in its buildings, but it didn’t work out. Only the ruins of a couple of buildings have survived to this day, which are now being actively demolished. They plan to make a tourist site in memory of the plant on the former factory territory...
