While growing Assent, an Ottawa-based SaaS unicorn, expanding the dev team from 1 to 30 to 300 involved intricate layers of product management, planning, and QA. Among these, the Software Factory tool is proving invaluable, offering both predictable and unexpected advantages. Not only does it teach non-technical users the technical aspects, but it also allows for tech control and offers the examination of alternatives before coding starts. Initially met with skepticism, the tool is essential as the team develops Backboard, the pioneering API connecting to over 400 LLMs with stateful threads and portable, private memory.
