What Can You See in Limasawa Island?
The First Mass Shrine
Well, we cannot just forget Limasawa's history and sweep it under the rug. After 300 years, the town still remembers the first Christian mass on March 31, 1521, on Easter Sunday by the Spanish priest, Fr. Pedro de Valderrama. You must visit the First Mass Shrine in Limasawa and see the paintings and sculptures portraying the event to remember this event.
Magellan's Cross
After visiting the First Mass Shrine, your tour guide will inevitably take you to the Magellans' Cross. You must climb around 450 steps as the replica of the cross was on top of the hill. Locals believe that Ferdinand Magellan installed the cross on that spot when they set foot on the island.
Dakdak Beach
Visiting Limasawa is bestowed with clean, white beaches. The best way to enjoy this is to stay in Dakdak Beach. Going to the area is so easy. It takes 10 minutes away from the pier by public motorcycle. You can choose from its airconditioned or open-air huts for your accommodations. It also has a small restaurant, so you need not hunt the nearest market for fresh seafood and fruits.
Limasawa Island Lagoon
Every tourist should visit the Limasawa Island Lagoon for its breathtaking views. Expect a 30-minute ride from the town proper and prepare an entrance fee to access the area. These are Php25 for adults, Php20 for senior citizens, and Php10 for kids
**Limasawa Island Lighthouse (Parola) **
The Parola is a few steps away from the lagoon. Going on top of the Parola actually will give you a better view of the lagoon under it. Be careful in climbing the cliff as it has no side railings and barriers.
