This plant parts are edible. The leaves, flower buds, flowers and young pods are eaten as vegetable and pot herb. The flower and buds are often used in curries and pickles and as condiments (Burkill 1966). The flower buds are cooked and eaten as vegetables in Andhra Pradesh
