In the Czech Republic, there are a few nice places where you can travel on special bicycle trains. All other trains have only a few spaces for bikes.

Families living in towns use cars with bike racks. It’s cheaper than buying train tickets for the whole family and more comfortable. They can go wherever they want and don’t have to keep an eye on the timetable.

Alcohol (and even drugs) is a problem when the police check cyclists. A cyclist can receive a fine of up to 50,000 CZK. That can be equivalent to one or two months’ salary for someone. If an accident happens, the costs are even higher for the cyclist.
