Yeah the graphics are basic but its fun to play and pretty addictive. These remastered versions have beautiful music that the 8 bit and 16 bit versions wouldn't be capable of.

In these early games we can see the influence of games like tabletop Dungeons and Dragons.

When a warrior raises his strength his attack damage will be higher. When the mages Intelligence is increased he can cast more spells and they will hit for more damage. This makes it pretty satisfying to grind exp in one area before moving on so your party gets stronger.

The story also seems more traditional western high fantasy than future instalments of the franchise.

Overall Id say this is one of my favourite games in the Final Fantasy franchise.
