Tullibardine Chapel - Achterarder Countryside Scotland

A couple of days ago my Father and I were driving to the town of Crieff in central Scotland.
On one of the country roads there is a sing post leading down a farm road towards an old chapel
As the road ends we find ourselves in an area surrounded by fields and wonderful Scottish country scenery.
The only other building for many miles is this farmhouse and out buildings
This building has probably been here for centuries ,the stone work looks really old and gives it the look of a horror movie set.
The chapel grounds on the other hand have a very tranquil and peaceful feel. This church is one of the best examples of a church from the 1500s.Most churches in Scotland didn't survive the reformation of 1560 .
This chapel has survived pretty much unaltered since it was constructed in the early 1500s.I imagine its survival is due to its remote and secluded location.
The church roof dates back to the late medieval period and is also in great shape having survived many hundreds of winters. Unfortunately on this visit I am unable to show you guys inside of the chapel as its doors are only open from April to September. Perhaps in Spring I will make another video and post showing the interior.
The tall Scots pines that decorate the churchyard really help add to the sense of peace and tranquillity here. They have sat here for many years ,I enjoyed watching them gently sway in the Autumn breeze while filming and taking these shots.
These red berries adorn the entrance to the chapel.
The building has some wonderful examples of 16th century stone work in the form of these very impressive windows.
Im not sure how old the glass is , the only damage I could see was the small crack in this window.
An opportunity to peek into the gloomy chapel...
There are only a handful of graves in the church yard , they are mostly to weathered to make out much of the details on them.
This one has stood here more than 200 years.
Another from 1801
An unmarked grave with a beautiful golden brown capped mushroom rising out of the ground beside it.
This time of year the area offers a few good mushroom shot opportunities.
This little patch on the side of this stump with a fern growing out of it I find particularly photogenic.
Well that's all folks. Its time to jump in the car and drive back up this old dirt track road and back to the noise of the real world. Perhaps we will visit this old chapel again in spring time and take a look inside.
