Children and adult whose not married are the most happiest person during Chinese New Year. They got the chance to collect red packet Angpow from their parents, aunties, uncles and grandparents.
My Popo or grandmother is half Chinese or in my country we called Sino-kadazan. Being a Sino-kadazan, she loves to give Angpow and teaches her children to kept this tradition which been running in the family for as long as I can remember. She said that if you鈥檙e married, always prepare an pow's for the children and family members who are still single.
Last night we celebrated Chinese New Year Eve at my Popo's family home and my great grandfather's house. I got the chance to meet all my aunties, uncles, cousins and my Popo's siblings whom I also call Popo (for women) and Akung (for men).
Last night started with the burning of fireworks marking the start of the Chinese New Year. This followed by dinner prepared by Potluck among the family members. After this comes my favorite part, receiving Angpow from all married adults. It was like harvesting red packets. It's not much but enough to make you smile 馃槝馃槝馃榿馃榿
