My dear friends, here some tips on how to start leaving Green!
Swap Plastic For Reusable Totebags
A great alternative to plastic, make them yourself and customised them to suit your style.
Time to Preserve
Love your fruits? Instead of throwing out overripe fruit and veggies is wasteful. Preserving, pickling and jam-making are a great way to reduce waste. Or you can freeze overripe bananas and bake some banana bread or cake later!
Limit Your Washing
Instead of running mane small loads of laundry, do a few big washes per week using cold water and environmentally-friendly detergent. Do the washing on sunny day. Hang your clothes outside to give them the best chance to dry under the morning sun.
Invite Pollinators.
Invite the bees and butterflies to your garden by planting bright flowers, plants and vegetables.
Play Old-School Games
Once a week, get the family together to enjoy a game of Scrabble or Jenga instead of sitting in front of the TV or electronic gadgets. Plus this makes for some great family bonding time and will reduce your energy usage.
Close the Blinds
Before you leave the house in the morning, close the blinds. Keeping the curtains drawn while you are out will ensure that your house stays cool so you use less energy later.
Recyle, Recyle, Recyle
You will be surprised at just what you can reuse in your home. Wine bottles make a great water jugs, or pop a rose or two in them for a beautiful table decoration. Glass jars can also be refilled with sauces and jams.
Grow You Own
It is so rewarding when you can pick you own herbs and veggies and use them to create a meal for your family. For example plant a chilli tree in a pot.
Make Beauty Products
You can make your own beauty products at home with items you already have lying around the house! Honey, avocado, fruits, oil, yoghurt and eggs can be sued to make hair products or face mask.
Make Recycling Fun at Work
It is easy to throw paper away in the rubbish bin under your desk. But you should have a separate bin for paper scraps and soft drink cans. Make it fun for the team by using bright coloured bins.
Use Your Own Thermos
Instead of getting a cardboard coffee cup every day, bring your own reusable mug or thermos.
START TO LIVE GREEN TODAY
Each Malaysian produces an average of 1Kg of trash per day and 50% of it is food scraps. Start by doing it in your daily life. Bring your own cups and food containers wherever you go to reduce your trash. Start refusing plastic straws when you dine out, didn’t you know that they are the ocean’s top plastic rubbish!
Remember the 5 R principles: REFUSE, REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE AND ROT
