I started learning Silver Smithing back in 2014 at that time I was working as a waitress, late nights, bad routines, an alcoholic and druggy lifestyle that seemed like fun but left me depressed. I've always loved doing things with my hands, had lots of nervous energy (Gemini Moon) but often not having the right release for it, I couldn't hold down a standard job, waitressing did keep me on my toes but it also meant dealing with a lot of 'karens' which at the time I did not use this term, or know what it was, but the behavior and attitude of these people stank and it would really affect my well being.
Thankfully this type of work meant I had enough time to take up hobbies and activities to improve my life. I started doing kundalini yoga and going to a jewellery making course, I had time to cook nice meals at home, and decided to try veganism things starting slotting into place and my bad habits began to disappear. Even the karen's stopped affecting as much and I started to appreciate my life more but had this calling it was time to move on.
One of the main reasons I moved to Spain was to do a jewellery making course, I really enjoyed that year in 2017 because I got so much done, everyday I was actively making jewellery and spending all day from 8.30am - 4.30pm in the workshop.
Since the course ended and I needed to get a regular job to pay my bills and debts I quickly fell off my schedule and stopped creating jewellery and this is the problem with being a silver smith, its not the easiest job to be self sufficient, you often have to under sell yourself, since jewellery is very cheap these days, the hours and time involved just don't add up.
I make jewellery now for the love of it, when I have time and the urge to go into that world, I find it extremely therapeutic. All my concentration is fixed on the details and I easily forget all my problems when I'm extremely focused. I especially love soldering which is bonding two pieces of metal together using a blow torch, it makes me feel like an alchemist.
Also I love to use natural trinkets I find on the beach or in the forests, nuts, seeds, shells, rocks, stones of all kinds. All these things have an energy of their own and are more intriguing to me that precious crystal stones. I like the fact that I find these objects myself instead of paying someone to mine crystals, but I do still cherish crystals just the process of walking, searching and finding something beautiful is more fun for me, not to mention its free!
Often I make something and want to keep it for myself, but I do sell my pieces on my Instagram shop which you can check out here: https://www.instagram.com/celestial_cow/ (you may need to use the mobile app to view the shop) I also take custom orders, you can DM me for your design preferences.
