I know this might hurt the feelings of some people, but i just want to state the facts or rather remind us of them.
I mean no offense at all.
Christmas as we know it now has been given a colour and an identity which is not the right one. Today it seems efforts are being made to cover the true meaning of Christmas, not only has its name been shortened to Xmas, it has also been given the identity of Santa claus and the colours - green, red and white.
These in effect has gone a long way to harm the activities engaged in during these yuletide periods. This has led to majority of the world's populace celebrating in ways not fit for the season and its saddening because these celebrations people naively engage in most times tend to have an adverse effect on both themselves and others as well.
Now i'll tell you what it's all about.
Christmas is all about a sweet small little boy who brought what was lost before to us, love and he is called JESUS.
In Mathematics, the letter "X" is usually used to refer to an unknown - hence "X"-mas mostly suggests the message of "an unknown 'mass' ", but that suggestion would give rise to questions like, "What is X?", "What is this unknown?"
and also cause people to sought for answers, hence the gap or unknown was given another identity but the true identity is not just a religious sentiment, but an historical fact.
According to historian Michael Grant,
"If we apply to the New Testament, as we should, the same sort of criteria as we should apply to other ancient writings containing historical material, we can no more reject Jesus' existence than we can reject the existence of a mass of pagan personages whose reality as historical figures is never questioned".
According to New Testament scholar James Dunn, nearly all modern scholars consider the baptism of Jesus and his crucifixion to be historically certain. He says that,
"these two facts in the life of Jesus command almost universal assent" and "rank so high on the 'almost impossible to doubt or deny' scale of historical 'facts' they are obvious starting points for an attempt to clarify the what and why of Jesus' mission."
What was Jesus' mission? you might ask, ☺, Its my pleasure to answer your question.
John 14:6
Jesus answered, "I am the truth,the way and the life, no one comes to the father except through me..."
It doesn't take Albert Einstein's IQ to realise that Jesus was saying that he is the true way of living life and after this he told us how to live life to the fullest;
Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus replied: "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. And is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: love your neighbor as yourself..."
Pretty simple! Just smother this three personalities with love and your life would be great;
• Oneself
• One's neighbor
• The creator
Care for your own wellbeing, physically, mentally, emotionally and financially. Do things that are right for you not momentarily but things that compound over time to give a great positive effect, Love your neighbours, regardless of what they have done to you or what they will do, sounds stupid, sure! But have a little faith all things are working for the good of those who love and finally be thankful to your creator, see the advantages in every disadvantage, the opportunities in every problem, never let negatives cloud your vision. Always be thankful! Its worth it.
This is the whole essence of Christmas, that the baby who taught us all to love was born this season and that is the identity and if christmas has a colour, it should be the colour of love.Don't get me wrong, I love Santa and all the colours of Christmas but its important to know and accept the true core kernel of christmas and then what ever shell we choose to use to cover it does not matter, as long as the core kernel is in there
So whenever,henceforth you hear "Merry Xmas" or "Merry Christmas" remember the baby, remember the love and say " I love you too bro" and smileeee!
The world needs more of LOVE and smiling faces. Smother everyone around you with love!!
THANKS FOR READING,
CED.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
