This is my very first oil painting that I created several years ago. It's a blue tit, a small one, only 18x24cm big, but I was so happy about the result.
Before that I painted mostly with acrylics, water colours, gouache or coloured pencils. Even though all of these mediums have their charm, none of them spoke to me the way oils do.
It's definitely my favourite medium. I love the organic appearance, the vibrancy of the pigments, the buttery consistency and the long drying time. In addition, it matches perfectly with what I like to paint as well as the way I prefer to paint.
