Cecilia Dietrich - Focus and get it, Oil on 40x40cm Canvas, May 2019
While I was painting the red kite’s eye, I came to realise what its gaze is telling. At first, I always thought it looks pretty severe and almost mean but actually it is determined. ⠀
⠀
Sailing calmly in the air, the red kite is focused and knows exactly what it wants. As soon as it spots his prey, it plummets from high in the sky and catches its target with such an impressive precision. ⠀
⠀
I always found nature to be my greatest teacher and all animals I come across share with me a message. Personally, I love the medicine of the red kite, it's similar to the falcon and generally to those kinds of birds of prey.
It has strong sight, a clear vision, gut instinct and the right timing for taking action. It is fast, fierce, bold, independent, precise, determined, focused, patient and very attentive.
I love watching it flying high in the sky. What a majestic creature.
Do you like this bird?
Thank y'all for being here and reading! ❤️
Below you find pictures of the painting process. I'm always surprised about the transformation - from the very early stage to the final result. It's such a difference.
#1 Sketching
#2 Filling out the dark areas
#3 Almost done with the acrylic underpainting
#4 Switching to oils for the next layers, beginning with the background
#5 Focusing on the details, especially all the tiny feathers
#6 Final result
