Personally, I like the slowdown. I have been homesteading most of my life and try to be as self-sufficient as possible. Trash and recycling is something I just deal with as I have no trash or recycling pick up where I live. About once every three months, I take my bag of garbage that I can't reuse, reduce, or recycle to the public dump. Likewise trips for supplies that I can not grow or make myself, are down to once every 4 to 6 weeks. I have opted out of almost all services except for the internet that keeps me connected to friends and family. It just makes for a simpler less strssful life.
