He Built a House Every Day
GAVE HIM PURPOSE TO LIVE
Every day, he built this house in his head. One day, he came home and physically built that house, his home. It was this house that kept his sanity. He could now build that house blindfolded and he was able to build it because he was now a free man!
He was a POW in the Vietnam war. That house gave him the purpose to live.
YOUR FREEDOM PURPOSE
What is your internal drive? You may not have had to live thru an experience such as the Vietnam Vet above that kept his mind mentally sharp to survive his ordeal. Your struggle may be to strive for FINANCIAL FREEDOM!
I often reflect on this individual as he went thru his day, day after day until his release. He would wake in the morning and start building his basement. By the time he shut his eyes at the end of the day, he had his roof finished. When he returned home, he built that house, that house gave him the purpose to live.
You may think my example is extreme. My daughter told me the other day that she was worried she would not be able to afford College. I told her not to worry about that because this is my responsibility. If I could not afford College for her, THAT WOULD BE EXTREME!
My purpose is to be sure that I have done everything I possibly can to support the direction my children desire to pursue. (within reason) Whether it is paying for a good College education or helping one of my sons establish business, the goal is finding success.
ARE YOU RIDING THE RIGHT HORSE
This has been really hard for me because my personal goal was to have some property and some good riding horses right outside my door. As I sit here writing this blog, I am only a few days from shipping my horses away, taking down the fences and selling the property that was the focus of my dreams. Although I accomplished some of my ambitions, things change and I found I am no longer RIDING THE RIGHT HORSE.
Call it what you want, the right horse, the right vehicle, the question is: “Will this vehicle get you where you are going?”
The vehicle I have chosen is COMPUMATRIX. I have been right here since the concept was being formed. I have had my horses for 40 years and they are a chapter of my life. When you read a book, as one chapter ends, the next begins. Often, there is an abrupt event that causes the change from one chapter to the next.
When I was young,I spent 3 years in Japan and 5 years in Germany by the time I was 10 years old. In the next 4 years, I lived in 3 different states and crisscrossed the United States. I never felt grounded until I moved to Colorado. Now after 40 years in Colorado, I’m ready to start another Chapter of my life.
I’m ready to go back to that Chapter where I was traveling again. Sometimes you outgrow your passions. These last 4 horses taught me that my days of riding out a bucking horse are long over. In addition of my love of traveling, it is also time for my children to move onto the next chapter of their lives.
