Art Journal: "Learn How To Create Depth In A Landscape Painting" 🎨🖌️

Greetings Hiver friends, How are you there? A blissful Monday to everyone. Welcome to my art journal, another artwork I want to share with you today. In this post, I'm going to show you how to create depth or distance in landscape painting. This tutorial is fit for those aspiring artists. You can follow the techniques because the effect of depth is very vital in creating a landscape.

I used four painting brushes and seven colors of acrylic paint. It took me forty-minutes to finish this painting.

Materials Needed:
👉 Acrylic paper pad
👉 Pencil and eraser
👉 Ruler
👉 Clean Water
👉 Rag
👉 Paper napkin

Brushes:
👉 Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
👉 Filbert brush
👉 Round brush

Acrylic Paint:
👉 Titanium white
👉 Mars black
👉 Grass green
👉 Green mid
👉 Lemon yellow
👉 Burnt sienna
👉 Yellow ochre

Painting Basic Procedure:
Background: Titanium white, mid-green, and black.
Brush: Filbert brush and round brush

To create depth or distance between the foreground and background the contrast of the object in the background has less detail. In other words, you have to paint it with a lighter effect. As you can see in the background, the trees have less in detail. One technique also is by overlapping the object in the background, it creates distance because it will cause the object to go backward or forward in the scene.

Foreground:
Tree leaves: Black, Green mid, yellow, yellow ochre
Brush: Filbert brush

Trunks: Burnt sienna, black, white, and yellow ochre.
Brush: Round brush, liner brush

Using darker colors or high contrast in the foreground. It creates also a sense of distance between the background and foreground.
