Art Journal: How To Paint "Misty River" Acrylic Painting

Greetings Hivers friends, How are you doing? Welcome to another art journal that I have created today. I am glad today that I have enough time to do an artwork with acrylic medium.

In this post, I am going to demonstrate the step-by-step process on how to paint a misty river. It took me one hour to finish this piece.
If you have a time to paint, you can follow the steps and techniques.

Materials Needed:
👉 Acrylic Pad
👉 Pencil and eraser
👉 Ruler
👉 Clean Water
👉 Rag

Acrylic Paint:
👉 Ultramarine blue
👉 Titanium white
👉 Mars black
👉 Burnt sienna
👉 Grass green
👉 Yellow ochre

Brushes:
👉 Flat Brush /small #10, 10/32 / 8.0mm
👉 Liner Brush #2 / 2/32" / 1.6mm
👉 Round Brush #8 / 5/32" / 4.0mm

First thing I do before I start painting is to make an outline.
I used blue and white for the sky, just blend them well together. This will be my background.
To make the background looks misty, just cover it with more white mixed with a very small amount of mars black.

I Painted the distant object like trees with white and small amount of black.

For this part I uses three colors for the trees, they are, grass green, yellow ochre, and black. Remember, the closer trees should be darker in color than the distant trees.

For the rocks I mixed the black, burnt sienna and yellow ochre. I used white and yellow ochre for the highlights of the rocks. to make it realistic I put some water reflections.

This is now the finished painting.
