We could have taught each other so much. I think you knew how it all would end, someone must have. The way it all went down, I don't think we ever meant to do this to each other, but it happened, didn't it? I can't say I'm sorry, I wasn't there. I look back at what we had, and what we could have accomplished together, and I hang my head, just as you hung your head at the end. I too have no more words to share, and no fight left in my soul. I'd cry beside you but they would be wasted tears. They would fall to the earth and soak in, never to be recognized by anyone except the blades of grass I share them with.
I can work on the future, but the inertia is too much sometimes, and I get more tired every day. The walls are always closing in on us, and there are so few left to fight. I've given up trying to understand what everyone else wants. Their time slips by, and I'm not sure even they notice anymore. Another sun set, another sun rise, days slip by like leaves of fall are carried away in a stream, and we plod on. Always moving forward, but never gaining any ground.
