This is an image that I'm submitting for the 
I took this in June, on a quiet afternoon, when the city was still pretty quiet post Lockdown. It was very nice wandering around without the crowds...
This shot is a hand held pano. I seem to have lost my brain in London, because all the things that I've learned in Richmond Park, about photography, being careful and taking ones time, using a tripod where appropriate, all sort of went out the window.
Having never photographed things with straight lines and complicated geometry and symmetry, I was unaware of how much of a headache I would create for myself by not taking a few minutes to put my camera on a tripod. The previous destination had been One New Change, where security don't allow tripods, so I was already in a hand held mind set, and rather enjoying the freedom of hand held shooting...
Thankfully, this pano has worked. I stitched it together in Lightroom back in June, and it did an OK job. Some tweaks in Photoshop were required, but it works. As a side note, when I decided to enter it into the competition, I tried to re-stitch it in the latest version of Lightroom to see what would happen , and it was an absolute mess. I'm not sure what changes have been made to how Lightroom stitches panoramas together, but it did not do a good job this time around. Photoshop was even worse when I tried.
Lateral flow tests permitting, I'm heading into town on Sunday, for an afternoon of shooting, and I can't wait! The weather in London has been utterly awful for the entire Christmas holidays. Grey and rain every day for weeks..... The only decent photography day was a few days before Christmas Day, when there was a beautiful sunrise and frost, and I was up north visiting family. I watched everyone's Instagram stories with envy.... It was such bad timing. The forecast on Sunday is sun and showers, which I think could be very interesting for cityscapes. Fingers crossed!
