Hi,
This afternoon, while I was with a friend from work, I happened to mention the boom in rural tourism in the north of Spain and it was at that moment when I checked my mobile phone and showed him a few photographs which I am now going to show you.
First of all, I showed him the surroundings of the house we have in the village, my relatives as a shared inheritance between all my mother's siblings and my own mother, in which we give one of the fields to a neighbour to graze his horses (Buker and Piper).
Then, so that he could get a picture of the rest of the surroundings, I showed him a photograph taken about 10 metres from the first picture, but focusing on the pastures and cornfields on the south side of the farm. On the right hand side, one of the largest dairy cattle farms in the region belonging to our neighbours, who rent part of our land for planting corn, can be seen.
Seeing the astonished eyes of my co-worker, I decided to continue showing him the northern view, which is the one I like the most. Where you can see the entire coastline in a radius of about 30 kilometres around. You can see several small villages and many meadows all the way to the ocean.
My work colleague asked me what the farm house looked like and I showed him a picture of the main facade of the large farmhouse with 6 rooms on the upper floor, kitchen, bathroom, a loft and the old stables in the lower part of the house which was very typical as it was heated in the old days by the heat given off by the cows which was a delight in winter but a torture in the summer months.
To access the house you have to climb a hill surrounded by cornfields during the summer months as you can see in the following picture.
And to get to the hill there is a country road that goes up to the house, which is more than a hundred years old and is one of the oldest in the village. I am going to use this picture to present it in this week's #POBphotocontest organised by
