The issue is people thinking that rock is the growling, like Cannibal Corpse.

While I didn't mind that kind of music when I was young, I have a hard time seeing why anyone would listen to it today.

My favourite band is, and has been for 30 years, Metallica.

People I have introduced to rock has always liked it - at least after I stopped listening to the growling part 🤣 One of my daughters favourite songs is TNT by AC/DC
