Not the best of night's sleep - awake a lot of times - when the sun did come up it was to a dry day. Would have loved to go for a bike ride but we need to get back home to start preparing tomorrow's meat extravaganza. Left just before 10. Nice drive back toward Lithgow. Always easiest to soak in countryside on the front end of a drive. Fab rolling hills up and around Lake Windamere and past the Caperteee Valley - the world's largest canyon
Stopped in Lithgow for coffee and a snack. A few grand old buildings.
Coffee shop on an arcade above Lithgow Station - train to Syndney waiting to roll. Station carved into a deep cutting
Rail lines looking the other way. Interesting thing about looking onto the top of the carriages. The square you see has the words emblazoned on it - Emergency Cutting Access. Guess they need access from above on a double decker train if it falls over
Running statue across the road - the Lithgow Flash.
Marjorie Jackson - first Australian woman to win Olympic Gold - Helsinki 1952 - 100 and 200 metres.
A few more Lithgow old buildings. The town is crumbling - not enough work - every second shop was closed
The old Lithgow Hotel has a new name - at least that has kept it going.
Stopped one more time at Bilpin to fill up. It is a hard winding road. We might plan our next trip this way till after the Victoria Pass reopens
Home arrival was busy. First job was to get the sous vide up to temperature for tomorrow pork ribs and brisket bbq. While waiting for that did the membrane removal on the ribs and trimmed the fat off the brisket. Vacuum sealing next. Then unpack the car. Gives 21 hours of cooking time at 155F - should work OK.
Did walk up to shops for a few things and to get steps up.
Toasted sandwich for dinner.
