Wow! A must-read for sure: pre-literate cultures were principally informed by holistic, right-brain modes that venerated the Goddess, images, and feminine values. Writing drove cultures toward linear

I love your efforts to communicate more clearly with cats!! If Bobi the Bad had access to a bell, it would never stop ringing. His vocal chords will never wear out, it seems, as he demands water FROM THE

That's sweet of you. Thanks for reading and commenting!

We had so few photos, but our grandparents had even fewer (sssh, don't ask how old this makes us). One photo taken every so many decades - a toddler portrait, maybe a wedding portrait, maybe a family photo

My youngest sister took the pictures at the farm. Nobody photographed me in college. Unlike today's kids, I have almost ZERO images, not even of Father Ed (long before he entered the seminary! back when

The cat never came with me to campus - she was a fixture at the farm. Pixie. The most affectionate creature we'd ever seen. She'd flop at our feet like a Schmoo in Lil Abner, looking ready to drop dead

“Women's curiosity was given a negative connotation, whereas men were called investigative. Women were called nosy, whereas men were called inquiring. In reality, the trivialization of women's curiosity

Oh no, children's artwork - STORAGE UNIT somewhere on THEIR property... Acrylic: I never could abide the stuff. Cotton, soft and well worn. Our youngest inherited that trait, and preferred secondhand clothing

Of all the many treasures you've parted with, you've kept your mom's sewing - that's something! Too many of us have let go of these things. I see them at Goodwill all the time, hand crocheted baby blankets,

Thanks - that's how it's SUPPOSED to work: as we age, we stop caring so much how we come across to others. The ridicule of our daughters can stop some women from "daring to be me" - men seem

I do indeed - but it has been a long, long time since I could fit into them! or the little dark-brown leather ankle boots, or the brown turtleneck and vest, OMG, did I really wear such things ON CAMPUS

Simple, and so obvious, right? Right?? Well, why do we keep forgetting (speaking for myself anyway) and needing people like you to remind us how creative power represents true freedom: Because when we

OMG, the motorcycle on the roof - #love it!!! And your dad. I love your dad. His own tools in his own shop, his Korean War service, his legacy - without waxing sentimental, you convey so much love and

Thank you! Photos are of me, early 1980s, on that very bike. I'm still puzzling over the part where she started to care. WHAT HAPPENED.... Graduated, got a job, got married.... Woke up one day and noticed

Right! For a fresh look at women and Biblical womanhood, see "A Year of Biblical Womanhood: How a Liberated Woman Found Herself Sitting on Her Roof, Covering Her Head, and Calling Her Husband 'Master'

Well, dang. I actually HAD an old blue bike, with white stripes. My parents still have it somewhere. I returned it to the farm and bought a mountain bike...

Beautiful! Your words are as poetic as the Psalmist's. To know Him is to love Him.

Classic! John is a great character. I hope you bring him back in story after story. Molly too. :) She's a wise one.

Love the message here: we feel obliged to say only good things about the dead (to the point that they may be lies, e.g., "She never complained"), but we feel far less of a duty to say good things

Powerful and moving - the final line is a slam-dunk. There's a scene in the 2018 AMC movie "The Terror" (Franklin Expedition of the 1840s trying to find the Northwest Passage) in which an innocent
