Hello to everyone in the Music community! Today I bring you a special post dedicated to one of my favorite bands, ABBA, one of the most successful and wonderful Swedish bands to come out of Sweden. But this time I will not point out some singles that were hits and are popular among fans. On the contrary, what I want to highlight here are some of the little known and underrated songs that deserve a much more appropriate place in the playlist. So, if you like ABBA, you should stick around and take a look at some of them Let's get started!
Summer Night City
To the same tune of 'Dancing Queen', this track brings us all the glitz and magic that ABBA has when it comes to party tunes. A group of people going out at dusk to enjoy the nights full of good music, dancing and company. Something very ABBA. However, it was not such a successful single in countries like the UK. Maybe it is because it belongs to the album Voulez-Vous and other singles took the lead. But that doesn't take away from how good this song is. Simple, catchy and electrifying.
Summer Night City
Sencilla, pegajosa y electrizante.
Bang-A-Boomerang
If there is something that ABBA did very well, it was to make every song something worth listening to from very simple and everyday things. A recurring theme in their songs is love and 'Bang-A-Boomerang' is no exception. The recipe for a relationship to work is that it must have reciprocal love, what we give is what we get, just like a boomerang. For me, a lovely song. Although we could say that Benny and Björn would not agree as the song was not as successful as expected. Part of the ABBA album, it only reached number 56 in France.
Bang-A-Boomerang
One of Us
Although this song was the last hit of the band, given their expected separation, it did not positioned for long in the playlists. And the truth is that although it wasn't a hit in the US, it's surprising how disappointing that could be. This song is on par with 'The Winner takes it all', a beautiful melancholy behind every note and lyric that seems to stab at the heart. With Agnetta and Frida's angelic vocals, there's no way this lyric can't move us as they tell the story of a woman living through the breakup of her relationship and how she has to deal with the loneliness of the moment. And it becomes even more vivid when we learn that by the time of the album's release, The Visitors, Agnetta and Björn had split up. It's worth a listen.
One of Us
I could mention a few more tracks that are worth listening to but I think I'll leave that selection up to you. As I said above, it's hard to find ABBA songs that aren't good. It was about ten years of career and success after success. I just wanted to bring here some of the songs that I think are good and that maybe don't come around as often as they should. Although I also take the time factor as a cause of that, although ABBA doesn't seem to go out of fashion. Without further ado, thank you very much for stopping by and reading this article. I send big hugs and I'll see you next time!
