There are many circumstances in which after birth, we grow and develop with a very personal view of life. Sometimes we come to believe that in those same conditions in which we are born we will develop in life and that the same pattern that was fulfilled in our parents must be met.
The Bible refers to a character, who was born and raised in circumstances totally different from what really should have happened. I speak of Moses, who after being born was placed in a small basket in the river by his mother to be released from the order of the pharaoh to kill the Hebrew children to prevent the Hebrew people from continuing to multiply in the Land of Egypt.
Apparently, luck was with Moses, who was rescued by Pharaoh's own daughter who asked her father to let him raise the child.
Thus began the life of little Moses in the palaces of the kingdom of Pharaoh. Receive the best attention as part of the royal family, a better education, food, clothing, shoes and the luxury that a kingdom offers. However, what ran through the blood of Moses when he became young was the blood of a Hebrew. Which led him to commit a homicide against an Egyptian and to flee from the palace of Pharaoh to a desert where he spent forty years as a pastor.
Behind this whole matter, of course, was God. The forty years of preparation of Moses as shepherd of sheep in the desert, was the time considered by God that Moses should have had, to place him at the forefront of the task that would entrust him over his people Israel.
Surely Moses did not understand at all his stay in the desert as a pastor, but God knew what was happening, and God let him know through the call he made:
1 Moses feeding the sheep of Jethro, his father-in-law, priest of Midian, led the sheep through the desert and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 And the angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in the middle of a bush; and looked and saw that the bush was burning in flames and that the bush was not consumed. 3 Then Moses said, I will go now and see this great vision, why the bush does not burn. 4 When Jehovah saw that he was going to see, God called him from the middle of the bush and said: Moses, Moses! And he replied: Here I am. (Exodus 3: 1-4).
This call from God to Moses changed the course of his life forever. Now the life of Moses had a purpose, a definite mission and a set of instructions that he had to fulfill in order to become the liberator of the people of Israel, who had to take him out of the slavery of Egypt.
The life of Moses is very curious and perhaps very similar to the one you are living now. Perhaps, reader friend, you are doing an activity that apparently makes no sense to you, but with that same activity, God can change the direction of your life forever. God works in many ways on his children and when God calls we must obey him. God made Moses the liberator of his people Israel, but he also has a purpose in the life of each of his children who are called to a particular ministry. When God calls you, say like Moses: Here I am.
