Greetings friend @joseph1956, the "LOVE" a word that can mean many things for some and for others not so much, in the personal I consider that this word means, understanding, respect, loyalty, equality among many others, that in a couple is difficult to get all together, you mentioned the "patience" and did not have it included in my meaning of love and now that I could read this article I include it in my meaning, because we can not have all that lines above mentioned but with patience can be achieved.
